| The Company offers eligible Team Members the opportunity to purchase pre-paid legal services through MetLaw/Hyatt Legal Plans, A MetLife Company. If you wish to purchase this service, you pay the total cost for this service through after-tax payroll Contributions. The cost $8.31 per pay period.
The METLAW program provides a network of contracted attorneys who can represent you, your spouse or domestic partner, and any unmarried dependent children under the age of 19 for many personal legal services.
You may receive telephone advice and office consultations with an attorney for many personal legal matters, even those that are not fully covered, as long as they are not specifically excluded from coverage. The following is a partial list of covered services:

- Demand Letters
- Prenuptial Agreements

- Personal Bankruptcy

- Juvenile Court Defense
- Traffic Ticket Defense (no DUI/DWI)

Note: You may be responsible for certain fees such as filing fees in connection with covered services.
How the Plan Works
To use the legal plan benefits after you are enrolled, please call Benny’s Café at 1-888-873-8326 and choose the appropriate option to speak with a Hyatt Legal Plan (HLP) Client Service Representative. Your Social Security number is your identifier for you and your dependents. The HLP representative will verify your eligibility and make an initial determination of whether or not the case is covered and to what extent. You will also receive a case number, a telephone number of the Plan Attorney most convenient to you; the representative will answer any questions you have about the plan. You may also use the plan by visiting the HLP web site at www.legalplans.com.
Excluded Legal Services -- No services, not even a consultation, can be provided for:
- Employment-related matters, including company or statutory benefits
- Matters involving APL, MetLife and affiliates and plan attorneys
- Matters in which there is a conflict of interest between you and your spouse or dependents in which case services are excluded for the spouse & dependents
- Third party costs such as fines, filing fees or court fees
- Frivolous or unethical matters
- Matters for which an attorney-client relationship exists prior to you becoming eligible for plan benefits
- Out-of-Network Benefits
You can access services from attorneys who are not contracted with Met Law/Hyatt Legal Plan. However, you may incur additional fees for doing so because if you use a non-Hyatt attorney, s/he will be reimbursed for his/her services based on the Hyatt fee schedule and may balance bill you for the remainder.
